Manchester United striker Alejandro Garnacho was injured in the 0-0 draw against Southampton. He replaced Jadon Sancho in the 73rd minute but the Argentine player had to be replaced by Fred and left Old Trafford on crutches.

Manchester United striker Alejandro Garnacho played as a substitute in the Premier League match between Manchester United and Southampton. The 18-year-old replaced Jadon Sancho in the 73rd minute but had to leave Old Trafford on crutches.

The Argentine player was injured after a hard tackle by Kyle Walker-Peters inside the box. Garnacho confirmed on Instagram that he will be out of action for some time.

"It is difficult to put into words how I'm feeling right now. Unfortunately, I will not be able to help my team and teammates in the upcoming games, in what is a very important part of the season for us at Manchester United.

"I am disappointed to also miss the opportunity to be with my teammates of the Argentina national team, in what would have been a great and proud moment for me and my family. This is part of football and our profession. However, I am already focused on my recovery. God has taught me to never give up and I will make sure I am back stronger than ever," he wrote.

Manchester United have not yet announced how long Garnacho will be out of action but he will not be available for Argentina, nor for the next Europa League match against Real Betis.
